Dock to store applications that often we use, or application is running and also as a shortcuts folder, so it is easy to access the folder. But not only that the function of Dock, Dock there are many other functions. In addition to discussing the Dock function, I also discuss about Dock modifications, such as changing themes, and of course there was also discussion of the Dock shortcut keys. Please refer to this paper further.

Dock is one of the important elements in Mac OS X, because in the Dock we can put the applications and the folders that you often use. To access the Dock using the keyboard, press Control + F3, then you can use the arrow keys to select the objects in the Dock.

Running applications are marked with white dots glow, which is not marked application means the application is not running.

Manage Applications and Folders

To add applications to the Dock, we have to do is just pull the application icon from the Applications folder to the area between the Finder icon and the dividing line.

To add a stack folder, drag the folder you want into the area between the boundary and Trash.
If you want to remove the application or stack in dock, pull out your stay Dock. This application or folder will disappear. Applications or existing folders in the Dock is not real, application files and folders are not deleted the original. Running applications you can not remove from the Dock, you must close it first.
Dock can also serve to close an application for a while. Icon in the Dock can right-click (or Control + click) to bring up the contextual menu.
You can stop the problematic application by using the dock, the way he is after the right-click and then press Option. Thus Hide and Quit menu will change to Force Quit and Hide Others. Hide Others means other active applications will be hidden while icon selected applications will remain visible.

Finder is a file management application built Mac. For Mac users, everyday we must deal with the Finder. Both were only move files, remove files or to complicated things like changing the existing configuration files in the system. For some writing I will discuss the future features Finder, this is the first article about the Finder.

Finder doesn’t have Cut

For those who have just moved to a Mac or are trying Mac OS X, one feature that is missed the cut. In the case of the Mac file transfer feature does not support the cut, that there is a feature in Mac drag-n-drop the sophisticated. For Mac OS X, the cut is a feature that does not make sense, imagine you want to move an invoice file into another folder, but what you do is cut first and then move it, what happened? Well, certainly it will cut file.

But, Finder has this feature.

Spring-loaded Features

If you review the Finder Preferences. Press ? +, or can be accessed through the Finder menu> Preferences …. You’ll find a feature Spring-Loaded folders and Windows. Here you can determine how long to wait to issue Finder Spring-Loaded. You also can press the space key to activate the spring-loaded without having to wait for a few seconds.

spring-loaded

Spring-loaded is a feature drag-n-drop in the Finder, without having to open many Finder windows. We can copy the file, move it just by pressing the left click and hold then pull it to a folder or volume you want.

Additionally, Finder also has an Undo

Did you know if the Finder also has Undo and Redo? Yes, although only one time. If you are wrong move files, you will be able to undo it.

Conclusion

For me Spring-loaded has saved me a lot of time when moving files scattered on the Desktop. Do you often use a Spring-Loaded?

Desktop is one of the most fundamental, and the most frequently viewed by the user’s computer. As an advanced operating system, Mac got a very pretty desktop. In the first article I will explain the parts to your Mac Desktop.

The picture above is a screenshot of Leopard Desktop. If you are still using Tiger (Mac OSX 10.4) will be slightly different appearance, especially in the Finder window. Let us discuss one by one.

1. Apple Menu

Within this menu there are menus associated with the Mac Operating System. Like Shut Down, Restart or Log Out. Shortcut key to access the menu? is a group with CTRL + F2.

To find your Mac version, you can open the About This Mac. Here you can see the version of the operating system, processor speed, amount of memory installed on the computer and speed. When you press the Software Update, you will open the system to automate update the Mac , we will discuss about software on the other update day. By pressing the More Info, you will be shown your Mac System Profile. Here you can see the types of hardware installed in your Mac is more detailed. We better skip this part first, because it is very complex and diverse.

One part of the menu that will often (perhaps) you use the Force Quit … menu. This menu will open the Force Quit window, the window that serves to force applications to close the problem.

2. Menu Applications

Applications menu on the Mac is not like in Windows, where the application menu on Mac is always on top, while in Windows are in any application window.

Applications menu will change following the current application. To access the menu via the keyboard press Control + F2 and then press the letter in front of the menu. Suppose we want to access the Edit menu, after press Control + F2 E, or you can also use the arrow keys to select menus available.

3. Extra Menu

This is where the menu is extra, a small icon that can be a shortcut to your application menu or can also be an application itself, or also could be the status of such a system clock or your laptop battery capacity.

4. Desktop Icon

Icon on the desktop Mac is similar to the desktop icon in Windows, the difference is, if the windows desktop icon on the left, if the Mac is the right of the screen .. hehehehe. Not only that, but still, when you go into the Mac desktop the first time, there is only one icon ie Macintosh HD. In the picture below I’ve menggati Hardisk name and there is one additional hard drive.

To be able to resize your desktop icon through Show View Options. In this window you can change the icon size, icon spacing (only in Leopard), the position of the text, and text size icon.

5. Spotlight

Spotlight is a smart search feature. You can find everything with Spotlight, your old email messages, Mac applications in the Application folder, what is in your Mac.

Spotlight you can access by pressing the button? + Space. In the next article we will discuss about the further use of Spotlight.

6. Application windows

The application window is shown Finder, the file-processing applications built Mac. Mac application window has a shadow that give the impression of depth to the pile each window. If you’re curious about the Finder, we will examine the use Finder as much as possible, including a few tricks that can save you time.
7. Finder icon

Finder icon in the dock can not lose. By pressing this icon will bring up Finder window.
8. Application Dock icon

Dock is one of the leading feature in the Mac. Dock serves as a launcher as well as an application or switching between applications. Application running on the mark with fluorescent white light for the Leopard, the Tiger is marked with a triangle. You can access the Dock by pressing CTRL + F3.

9. Stack

Stack only found in Leopard, the Tiger stack replaced the shortcut to the folder of your choice. In Leopard stack looks much cooler than Tiger who only just got a List View.

Stack in Leopard there are three kinds of views, namely: Grid (picture above), Fan (as fans), and the List view (as in Tiger). To change the display mode, you need to do right click the stack icon and select the view you like.

10. Tong trash icon
