Crazy iPad

sometimes, being an early adopter can backfire on you. my new iPad wants to type all by itself, which really makes it hard to get things done. i’ve got an appointment with my nearby apple store to see what they think about it… based on twitter search, it doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem. UPDATE: i’ve posted a review of my iPad at: alexsian.com

Did they let you keep your old ipad, considering that you got help from a manager there?

@alexsian , Ya, actually, I am headed to Best Buy today and making an exchange. I hope this solves these little issues. It sure is a lot of fun otherwise!

@four2x4 – my replacement has been rock solid. i’d suggest you schedule a visit with genius at a nearby apple store. good luck!

@alexsian I have a somewhat different issue, where the keyboard keeps shaking up and down, that is, “retracting” and then reappearing.. Along with the frustrating wi-fi connectivitiy issues.

@SmugWimp I suggest you get the ipad now, it isnt really version 1, it is a bigger ipod touch and the touch has worked well for years, i have one and its awesome

Could have been interference with an apple wireless keyboard. If bluetooth was enabled, a connection could have been established

Cool that they replaced it! Let me know how you like it. I am tempted to get one, but my experience with my 2nd personal computer (my Commodore Amiga) taught me the rule “never buy v1.0 of anything”. (However v1.1 or better is usually game). Good Luck!

so i went to my apple store… which was PACKED.
found a manager and explained my problem.
without any question, they simply replaced it.
awesome!

nope. bluetooth isn’t even on. i’ve been a mac fan forever. accusing me of mac bashing is ridiculous.

@kleinheero – already tried without power and with different cables and different adapters. the problem still happens.
@globalgabe – i don’t think its accelerometer, but i tried turning it, shaking it, locking position… still happening.
