Enabling Kernel 64-bit Snow Leopard
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard now supports 64-bit kernel in it. The advantage of using 64-bit kernel than 32-bit processors able to increase the ability to process data more quickly. But Snow Leopard does not necessarily enable 64-bit kernel on its inaugural release. This snow tiger was still using 32-bit.
Yes. Reason compatibility is the main thing that makes the Mac OS X developers to not activate it. Counted many applications that are not compatible 64-bit if enabled for granted. In addition to the application, first generation Intel Macs like the Core Duo and Core Solo could not enjoy the Snow Leopard. This appears to be Apple to provide wider opportunities for loyal users.
Snow Leopard is 64-bit can only be found purely in the Server version. While the Client version, you must activate it manually by booting the following shortcut:
Hold down the 6 and 4 the same time heard the sound of boots.
If your Mac aberration, to be slow, or even can not boot at all, restart. Then return the kernel to 32-bit with shortcut keys 3 and 2.
Compatibility problem seems to be common for the Apple user since the transition from PowerPC to Intel architecture. Apple will generally improve in the next release of two stages, and may later Snow Leopard 10.6.3 will use 64-bit as a whole.
64-bit will feel very effective and fast when you have 4GB of RAM. MacBook you’ll be shot like a server machine for the entire series (framework) embedded in multimedia such as Snow Leopard, QuickTime X is ripe prepared.
